Gulfport City Officials have announce that they will be hosting their own Gulfport Music Festival to help celebrate and show off its newly renovated downtown area. The festival is scheduled for May 13-14, 2011, and will be modeled after Bayfest in Mobile.
On Friday the festival will feature mostly country artists like Montgomery Gentry, Jason Michael Carroll and Steel Magnolias. On Saturday fans can expect to see more Top 40 artists like Flo-Rida and Train. Two stages will be set up for the Gulfport Music Festivals first year. The Main Stage can be found at 13th Street and 27th Avenue, while a Beer Garden will provide a more intimate setting for additional performances. Planning for sustainability, the festival organizers have decided to start small and try to grow the festival to more stages in coming years. Check out the Gulfport Music Festival website here.
Gulfport has contracted with a local broadcasting company, Mississippi Media, to help stage the festival, which will be held in the recently revamped Downtown Gulfport. Officials are hoping to bring in about 20,000 music fans over the weekend, and are counting on a large economic impact for the area.
Of course FestiGoGo will be covering the inaugural Gulfport Music Festival with festival details, lineup and schedule. FestiGoGo can be downloaded here.
