Hangout Music Festival News and Updates

The Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama is getting ready to do it again for a second time. Last year's festival turnout was somewhat of a disappointment due to the unfortunate occurance of the BP oil well blowout and subsequent oil spill. But that was then, and this is now, and no one, and I mean no one, wants to think about or discuss that fiasco. The Hangout Music Festival takes place right on the beach and is planning to put on one heck of a beach party on May 20-22.

Advanced weekend passes went on sale yesterday morning, February 2 at 9 a.m., and sold out in a matter of two hours. Plenty of passes are still available, but instead of paying $159 for them, the price is now $174. Passes may be purchased from Front Gate Tickets or at The Hangout Restaurant in Gulf Shores.

Hammock Beach is a unique new feature that offers a salt-water lagoon where festival fans can find shade and hammocks for quick afternoon nap. The Sky-bar tower on Hammock Beach provides a 360-degree view of the festival grounds. But wait! That's not all! Festival-goers will also be excited to know that this year a fifth stage will be added — a stage underneath an air-conditioned tent.

This year's lineup includes Paul Simon, Widespread Panic and the Foo Fighters to name only a few of the big name acts that will be performing at the three-day event. Go to www.hangoutmusicfest.com for more information.

Gulfport Gets Its Very Own Music Festival

Gulfport City Officials have announce that they will be hosting their own Gulfport Music Festival to help celebrate and show off its newly renovated downtown area. The festival is scheduled for May 13-14, 2011, and will be modeled after Bayfest in Mobile.

On Friday the festival will feature mostly country artists like Montgomery Gentry, Jason Michael Carroll and Steel Magnolias. On Saturday fans can expect to see more Top 40 artists like Flo-Rida and Train. Two stages will be set up for the Gulfport Music Festivals first year. The Main Stage can be found at 13th Street and 27th Avenue, while a Beer Garden will provide a more intimate setting for additional performances. Planning for sustainability, the festival organizers have decided to start small and try to grow the festival to more stages in coming years. Check out the Gulfport Music Festival website here.

Gulfport has contracted with a local broadcasting company, Mississippi Media, to help stage the festival, which will be held in the recently revamped Downtown Gulfport. Officials are hoping to bring in about 20,000 music fans over the weekend, and are counting on a large economic impact for the area.

Of course FestiGoGo will be covering the inaugural Gulfport Music Festival with festival details, lineup and schedule. FestiGoGo can be downloaded here.

Black Potatoe Music Festival Announces Dates

The Black Potatoe Music Festival will be held on July 14-17, 2011 at the Red Mill Museum in Clinton, NJ. Four-day passes are currently on sale at a discounted rate because the lineup has not yet been announced. The discounted price for a four-day pass is $45. Three-day passes will go on sale on February 12 for $47.

The Black Potatoe Festival has said that it will start announcing its lineup on March 15.

Coachella Going Going Gone

Must be nice! For the Coachella organizers, that is. One week after announcing its 2011 lineup and that tickets were available, Coachella has sold out. I hope you were quick, if you were planning to attend the three day event in Indio, California. Unfortunately, the festival has seemingly snubbed its nose at those fans who have missed their opportunity to purchase passes by tweeting, “no, we don’t have any passes left to release, kthxbye.”

For those of you who are desperate to get to Coachella, keep your eyes open for tickets on Ebay and Craigslist.

Be sure to download the free iPhone app, FestiGoGo to get all of the Coachella Festival details.
